Day 1 in Galati

Well, we made it safe and sound to Galati - thanks for your prayers.
The first event of the week was a coffee meeting in the Viva Hotel restaurant.  The meeting went well with a good introduction from Mihai who was our MC.  A time of live music (fantastic stuff from the team), coffee and cakes ensued, followed by my message about Jesus in Gethsemane.   This is the build up to Easter in Romania, with Palm Sunday at the weekend.  It was a very moving time and a real sense of the Holy Spirit’s presence. 122 were present at the meeting - 80 guests, from which 31 prayed to receive Jesus; 43 requested more information and 62 signed up for the ‘Next Step’ meeting.

From the Viva we went to prison - only visiting!  This is remarkable that we were allowed in to Galati Prison.  They have restricted access and it nearly didn’t happen, but praise God, we got in.  The 90 men and women sat attentive and listened to music about Jesus Christ.  I then spoke (Cristina as my interpreter as for the previous meeting) about Jesus and the two thieves at the crucifixion; how one came to faith in Christ whilst the other didn’t.  Once again (I was here in 2006) God moved amongst this captive audience.  There were 90 inmates present, plus 20 team.  Following my message, I asked who would like to receive Christ as their Lord and Saviour.  50 hands went up and they all prayed to give their lives to Jesus.  What a beautiful sight and sound; tears in eyes.  A TV film crew turned up to film this for the News programme.  As the inmates went out of the room it was a pleasure to see there faces as they walked past, receiving gifts from the local church.
Some say the Prison Guard and I (in picture above) look like brothers!  What do you think......?
Tonight we have  a Dinner event with the Medical fraternity.  Please pray that God to save many souls again this evening.
We thank God for this great start to the mission.
Bless you
Alan
