What a great few days this has been in Brasov, Romania. We have met with many people since Thursday morning, when we started by visiting a Men’s Prison.
It is always difficult to explain how I feel following a mission like this, but I’ll try and give you sense of what God has done.
I have prayed for the sick and the oppressed. I have shared the gospel with young and old and those in between. I have listened to Romanians who greet me, and even when having difficulty in speaking English, they hug me and motion to their hearts with a big smile. I have seen the light of hope come into peoples faces, and I have seen tears flow when God’s love, grace and mercy touches individuals hearts.
To see young men locked up in prison; some for 20 years is heart breaking; some for theft, others for murder. I’m not excusing them for their crime, but God loves these men as much as he loves you and me - it’s tragic.
To see the elderly people at a lunch meeting; knowing that for some their mortal lives will soon come to an end, filled me with a longing that they would welcome Jesus in their hearts; to see their need for Him fulfilled.
For the Hungarian speaking Couples Dinner it was a time of great intimacy in God’s presence. I saw the lights come on as the Holy Spirit touched many individuals and families. This was confirmed from their response to the good news.
The visit to Casa Speranta Hospice was an incredibly moving experience for me. The in-patients there have no other hope that that Christ would touch them. To share Jesus with them and pray for their healing was very emotional and humbling.
To see the Aro Palace hotel meeting room full (136 people) of disabled folk, some in wheel chairs, some on frames, some on crutches; all dependant on able bodied helpers, was an amazing site. To see them smile and laugh during my re-enactment of the ‘Lost Sheep’ was a joy to behold.
To watch the Medical fraternity hang onto every word as I shared the good news of Christ with them was an incredible experience.
To share breakfast with a group of ladies was a fantastic privilege - to see most of them respond to the gospel was incredible.
To bring a thoughtful ‘Body, Soul, Spirit’ message to the teaching profession and watch them respond to the Spirit of God over lunch was more than food for thought!
To have an input into young people’s lives is such an honour. As 143 people ate pizza and chewed over the word of God, I know that lives were to be changed for eternity - amazing!
Immediately the previous youth meeting was over the room was filled again with over 140 people for the Romanian Couples Dinner event. An incredible 74% of the guests recorded that they had prayed to receive and follow Jesus Christ.
In a few days we saw 286 out of 490 invited guests to the meal event meetings record decisions to pray to receive Christ; that’s an amazing 58%. Another 18 indicated that they had come to Jesus during the two church services.
We thank God for all He is doing and for allowing us to be part of this Kingdom work.
God bless you
Alan
